The Central Board of Secondary Education has decided to implement the pattern of Uniform System of Assessment and Examination for Grades VI to VIII. At the end of each term, the written examination paper will carry 80 marks as maximum in each subject along with an average of 10 + 5 + 5 marks for Unit Tests, Assignments and Subject Enrichment Activities in the subject concerned. The annual examination will similarly carry 80 marks as maximum in each subject with syllabus coverage as follows: Grade VI – 10% of previous terms / Grade VII – 20% of previous terms / Grade VIII – 30% of previous terms. An average of 10 + 5 + 5 marks for Unit Tests, Assignments and Subject Enrichment Activities will be the maximum marks in the subject concerned.

Subject Enrichment Activities are aimed at enhancing the understanding and skills of the students. These activities will be conducted throughout the year and shall be evaluated at the term end. To develop effective speaking and listening skills in language, activities such as recitation, role play, declamation, picture reading and debate shall be carried out. Hands-on activities, Lab work and Project work shall be conducted in Mathematics, Science subjects and Social Studies.

In Co-Scholastic Activities, the students shall be graded in Work Education, Visual and Performing Arts, Health and Physical Education. Aspects such as regularity, sincere participation, output and teamwork shall be the criteria for grading the co-scholastic activities. The students will also be graded term wise for discipline, based on factors such as attendance, sincerity, behaviour and values. The report card will reflect both marks and grades.

We follow NCERT textbooks for Language – I (English) and all other subjects and TNTESC textbooks for Language – II (Tamil). A tentative plan for the instruction of topics is as follows:
